Queensland LNP may not have directly referred Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington to the Electoral Commission of Queensland but it did ask it to investigate lunches and dinners she hosted, according to the Courier-Mail’s Steven Wardill. The ABC alleged the Queensland Liberal National Party had referred its leader Ms Frecklington to the ECQ over five events she hosted where property developers were in attendance.
It against Queensland electoral law to accept political donations from property developers. The LNP released a statement saying the ABC’s allegations are “false”. “The statement there was a little bit cute, they might not have referred Deb Frecklington specifically, but they have asked the ECQ to have a look at these lunches and dinners that she was hosting,” Mr Wardill told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

Deb Frecklington 'lied to her electorate' when seeking a seat in parliament | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Alan Jones says there are many issues on which the Labor government in Queensland should be driven to defeat, except, “the opposition leader has no traction.”\n\nMr Jones said Ms Frecklington in February 2012 - a month before the state election - boasted she had successfully lobbied the LNP to “not support the proposal for Acland Stage Three” which would see the expansion of the open cut coal mine digging up strategic cropping land. \n\n“We will protect farm communities from being dug up from mining,” Ms Frecklington said. \n\n“Yet now she is sucking up to the mining company,” Mr Jones said. \n\nHe said last week, “she was all over my little hometown of Acland on the Western Darling Downs and she said she would approve Stage Three of the New Hope coal mine”.\n\n“I have nothing but contempt for politicians who behave in this way,' he said. \n\n'The reason Ms Frecklington won't come on this program is that she knows she lied to her electorate when she was seeking a seat in the Queensland parliament.\n\n'I don't believe she will be forgiven for using the concerns of the Acland community to get into Parliament; and once there, pandering to those who would damage some of the finest cropping land in Queensland in order to make a quick quid.\n\n“The opposition leader has no traction.\n\n“You can't lead if you are not a leader.”\n

Andrews and inquiry doing the ‘least they can do’ to uncover the truth | Sky News AustraliaThe ongoing hotel quarantine inquiry looks a lot like the premier and the board of inquiry doing the least they can do rather than the most to “actually get to the truth,” according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.\n\n“The Coate Inquiry into Victoria's hotel quarantine fiasco is said to be resisting pressure to re-open hearings and to recall witnesses,” Ms Credlin said.\n\nThe board of inquiry has also rejected requests to recall witnesses and written to all the barristers representing MPs and officials caught up in the inquiry advising them not to contact the inquiry.\n\n“The Inquiry should not, must not, be deterred from seeking to re-examine witnesses by the fact that this is also being publicly called for,” Ms Credlin said.\n\n“Given the meagre results of the inquiry up till ten days ago; and what we know now, it would be a travesty if witnesses were not re-examined or, indeed, some called, for the first time”.\n\nMs Credlin said once it became clear the state’s second wave of deaths came from the hotel quarantine fiasco, and the premier set up the inquiry without royal commission powers, the suspicion rose that “the Coate inquiry is not there to uncover the truth, but may end up hiding the guilty”.\n\n“There is really only one way for Justice Coate to dispel that impression and to protect her reputation,” she said.\n\n“And that's by calling people back and giving them the grilling that every Victorian wants to see happen.\n\n“This inquiry into hotel quarantine needs to do its job, be seen to be doing its job, and to do it without fear or favour.\n\n“To not just honour Victoria's 800 dead but quite frankly, help us put faith back into a system that I have to say, has let every Australian down.”\n
