While those aerial images clearly show the fierce blaze at the historic cathedral has destroyed the roof, spire and interior, firefighters say they can save the structure of the building.
British Prime Minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with the French and the emergency services working to control the "terrible blaze", while US President Donald Trump tweeted it was "horrible to watch the massive fire". Australian tourist Charlotte Knightly said the Notre Dame fire felt like a "huge loss" for the people of Paris.
