He scored 1 not out in the first innings at number 11 as England were bowled out for just 85 by Ireland thanks to Middlesex's own Tim Murtagh's 5-13. Leach then came out as opener at the start of day two as a night watchman after England rolled Ireland for 207. He survived one over without scoring that evening and then, the following day, scored 92 off 162 balls in over three-and-a-half hours.Leach was named man of the match.
