The Cabinet has approved a new penalty for littering, requiring offenders to perform community service
The Cabinet meeting today approved the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s proposal to introduce community service penalties for littering offences through amendments to existing laws.
“This measure is necessary as the issue of indiscriminate littering remains a concern, despite Malaysia’s progress towards becoming a developed nation. He pointed out that the enforcement related to littering offenses was currently carried out by the local authorities under Acts 133 and 171. However, these laws do not include provisions for community service penalties.
