PETALING JAYA: Dr Robert Ling says he left PKR due to a loss of confidence in Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the recent purge of grassroots leaders in Kedah.
“Since leading the party in the 2018 polls, things have worsened for the party, culminating in a split that resulted in the sacking of some leaders, including Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Zuraida , with many others leaving the party, ” he said in a statement yesterday.
Dr Ling, who headed the Sungai Petani division, said this was followed by actions taken to purge PKR of alleged traitors at the grassroots level.“The suspension of my deputy Firdaus Yusoff and several division committee members seems to challenge my loyalty and that of my friends towards the party, ” he added.
Dr Ling said his resignation as Sungai Petani PKR chief was with immediate effect and so were two-thirds of the division committee members and Sungai Petani youth wing.
