If you want to feel like you’re in Athens for the weekend, Chicago’s North Side is where you want to be. And the weather couldn't be any better.
Inside right now, parishioners and volunteers are hard at work to prep all the incredible dishes, and everything down to the dressing is homemade."Pastitso, flaming cheese, keftedakia, an assortment of Greek delicacies and food waiting for our friends to join us," said Rev. Father Andreas Georganas, of St. Demestrios.
"We plan on serving about 6,000 souvlakia, there’s a thousand half-chickens that we’ve marinated, sitting in the marinade waiting to be put on the grill. There’s a lot of Greek salad, obviously with feta and olives, tomatoes, green peppers and red peppers," said Zach Bazianos, Lincoln Square Greek Fest chairman.
The Greek Fest runs until 11 p.m., then resumes Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and the grand finale on Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.that I have read and agree
