Josh Edgoose spent a decade documenting the community around his home in south-west London – from kerbside canoeists to tube-riding Dalmatians
10 Miles West is a portrait of Isleworth, Hounslow, Richmond, Brentford and Twickenham and the areas of natural beauty that stretch between them, as well as a portrait of the lives of the people that fill them. ‘This section of the Thames is tidal and regularly floods, covering sections of road and footpath,’ says Edgoose. ‘There are often people wading or canoeing along normally pedestrian paths.
I’m really happy with the way the dogs flow across the frame and the range of expressions they all have. Also the stuffed dog peeking through the bystanders’‘I see a lot of wildlife along the river but in 10 years I think I’ve only seen one cat having a picnic. And what a strikingly beautiful cat it is’‘Trying to find humour in the mundane is always a goal. One evening this vintage red convertible was parked up and it transformed the bridge into this sort of shocked face.
