Foggy conditions are expected to linger in the Bay Area through Monday, but hotter temperatures are on the way.
San Francisco Bay Area residents woke up to a thick blanket of fog shrouding the sky on Sunday morning that resulted in a dense fog advisory as visibility on the roads was reduced to less than a quarter of a mile, the National Weather Service said. The fog is not expected to fully clear up until early this afternoon and may resurface again later tonight and into Monday morning.
“Sudden visibility changes can create dangerous conditions,” Canepa said. “It’s still patchy out there as the fog lingers across San Francisco, the Oakland and Berkeley hills, and around the immediate vicinity of Napa, Petaluma and Santa Rosa.” A beach hazard statement is also in effect for west- to north-facing beaches through 5 a.m. Monday due to an increased threat of sneaker waves along the Bay Area coastline.
