KIRO 7 reached out to Lake Stevens, Sammamish, and Edmonds to learn more about their lifeguard programs and learned that in Lake Stevens they do not have and do not plan on having a lifeguard program. At Olympic Beach in Edmonds, beachgoers didn’t seem to mind or know the lifeguard situation. It was a busy but beautiful 60-degree day with the water temperature around 48 degrees. Water this cold increases your chances of drowning or hypothermia, but under watchful eyes the cold water was manageable.
