appointing former minister Ben Morton

Guardian Australia can reveal Landry was appointed to the department in March 2021 to lead a whole-of-government strategy on child sexual abuse, but was never transferred responsibility for the plan – instead it remained with Morton, who helped launch and run the strategy.

In the ministry list publicly issued on 30 March, Landry was named assistant minister for children and families and assistant minister for northern Australia.
