Years ago, I visited the Erie Canal in upstate New York. When they built it, they needed it to be about 6 feet deep. Rather that dig down 6 feet, they dug down 3 feet and made levees on both sides 3 feet high.
While some wells are fracked with gray water, the majority still use water that could be used to slake our thirst. There is an obvious solution. Renewable energy production such as wind and solar does not poison our precious water, make our air unhealthful or endanger a livable and prosperous future.Re: “Millions in back wages still owed — Report says agency has fallen years behind in enforcing payments,” Thursday news story.
And then his Opinion column last Sunday painted more than one desirable attribute with the presidential examples so clearly defined. More subtle — or not so subtle — advice. How ironic that the comment about throwing stones at opponents in that column was across the page from “Mob mentality: It brings out the beast in us” by David Newman, describing the dangers of manipulation by guile and negative rhetoric.
