Sadly, the media leave us no choice as the days of “trusted journalism” are dead. I moved to Texas in 1974. On each Christmas Day since, I have enjoyed reading Paul Crume’s column. While I am gratefulstill runs it each year, the paper moved it from the front page, to the Metro section and finally to the opinion section where it landed on Page 4. An example of framing? Perhaps. I can only hope it some day doesn’t become the victim of deselection.
Also, I would like to say thank you to Marvin Noble for his letter Sunday supporting the local press. Many small news entities have been sold and shut down, which hurts our democracy. I believe any one of us, including politicians, nearly every day learn of a family member who comes out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Why do we keep tolerating hateful rhetoric about this community from the political right? Shame on these politicians and shame on the rest of us when we don’t stand up for the disenfranchised among us.Re: “Paxton takes aim at Biden agenda — AG targets president’s actions on health care, immigration policies,” Dec. 4 news story.
