Re: “’I don’t want to hurt the worm’ — My first fishing trip revealed my tenderness toward animals,” by Christopher de Vinck, Saturday Opinion. Thanks so much...

De Vinck’s “I don’t want to hurt the worm” essay really brought back memories. My father was an avid hunter who was blessed with four daughters, but, sadly, no sons. In a pitiful effort to share his enthusiasm for hunting with us girls, he took us on a dove hunt.

When I returned to live in Dallas in 2014, I looked at homes and condos all over the metroplex. Downtown Dallas is where I landed, purchasing a condo in a wonderful small building in the heart of Dallas. The building was one, if not the first, conversion in the 1990s. A splendid 1950s exterior similar to the building reporter Steve Brown mentioned on Ervay Street. Our building is just down the street.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this op-ed regarding city planning catering more so to the baby boomers and the older generation. Everything in the piece has been my sentiments exactly, which inspired me to start my organization to bring forth fresh ideas and concepts for development. Re: “First of Dallas’ world-class sprinters — Sunset graduate never lost SWC race at Texas and excelled on global stage,” June 2 SportsDay obituary.
