Re: “Another Permitting Mess — City of Dallas must not make Elm Thicket property owners pay for its humiliating mistakes, Aug. 9 editorial.The Editorial Board said they “begged the Dallas City Council not to make the mistake of interfering in the renewal of a neighborhood of small homes near Love Field known as Elm Thicket.”Renewal? No. We didn’t want renewal.
When I was in junior high school in 1933, the banks had gone broke. President Franklin Roosevelt created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to protect people. Now our deposits are insured up to at least $250,000. The writer’s “dog whistle” statement, “As long as the right champions Christian nationalism,” should put to rest that this piece represents any degree of fairness. Following the GOP campaign, one knows the campaigns do not promote or even mention “Christian nationalism.” But when journalism’s aim is to discredit Donald Trump, the GOP and conservatives or to please the boss, the use of a “dog whistle” accusation is dynamite.School districts in North Texas just started classes.
