The objects they have become no longer deserve consideration by the powerful except as a means to further cement their hold on power through further objectification, in turn accelerating the desensitization process. Just as this cycle erodes empathy, it increases the desire for more power. With empathy gone, consideration of impact on others no longer matters.
Yet, over the course of the seasons it aired, I don’t remember anyone questioning its content or “pulling it off the shelves.” I agree nuclear power is a workable solution for dependable energy generation. It has drawbacks, but safety does not have to be one of them. Modern design and regulations for such plants make nuclear contamination a low risk and is far outweighed by the threat to our planet from burning fossil fuels that accelerate our warming.
