Re: “Bernie and Ted agree? No way!” Friday news story.

Working families are the foundation of this nation, regardless of how little attention and appreciation they earn from the establishment. It’s a sad day when President Joe Biden abandons working families for temporary political gain. This action will leave a stain on his legacy and will add to the distrust ordinary citizens have of our government, which is supposed to protect us from the powerful special interests that undermine a just society.

I especially loved the opening phrase, “Without a single shot or shout, democracy won .” It is indeed wonderful to be reassured that our constitutional democracy worked to bring this seditious man to justice. I am reminded of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum’s framing of perpetrators, bystanders and upstanders. I believe that in future history books, the story of our time will be that one of our two political parties’ leaders were, at best, bystanders at a time when our country needed them to be upstanders.Re: “Weirder Than Austin — Frisco Republican’s bill to put capital city under state control is silly overreach,” Nov. 30 Editorials.

So, while Texas may be the No. 1 state for gerrymandering, the lack of fair representation is nothing to brag about.Re: “Repairing our elections” editorial and “Election victors must govern for all Texans,” by Joe Straus, Nov. 26 Opinion.
