One of the negative effects of gambling is that it takes money away from the poor that could lead to more homelessness.

Why didn’t he listen to Texans when he voted for permitless carry when polling shows that 59% of us oppose it? And 75% of Texans believe there should be universal background checks prior to a gun purchase. While traditional public schools are never closed for their failures, charter schools are. Likewise, vouchers should not be allowed to be used at any school that doesn’t meet the same criteria that would attain a C rating for a public school.Re: “Stop anti-vaccine madness in Texas Senate — Committee report politicizes life-and-death issues,” by Terri Burke, Feb. 4 Opinion.

I was infuriated by the report from Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, chair of Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee, providing a roadmap for Senate policy that basically denies science, leaning on misrepresentations and lies. Our state government is sadly laughable!
