Re: “Texan of the Year/Finalist: Caitlyne Gonzales — 10-year-old survivor became the voice of Uvalde,” Saturday editorial. I am the mother of fourth-grade...

Caitlyne’s mother is grateful for her daughter’s nomination for Texan of the Year; readers enjoyed the column on two Salvation Army leaders; hope we can do more for Iran and its people; worry about how crypto mining will affect the grid; and suggest a way to help limit panhandlers.

She never sought recognition; she did so out of love for her classmates and teachers. Through her pain and daily struggles, she always seeks to find the good in people. She continues to fight for what is right and just. She knows too well the pain she felt that day. The seventh-month mark will be in just a few days.

I thoroughly enjoyed Grigsby’s profile of Salvation Army Majors Mario and Lola Maldonado. I worked with them for many years while I was the coordinator for the Salvation Army of North Texas’ Angel Tree program and can’t think of any who have a more sincere heart for those in material, emotional or spiritual need.

The United States Congress Human Rights report maintains that there has been little change in the status of human rights in Iran since the 1979 revolution.I am frustrated at current conditions in Iran, and would like to reawaken the world to what is happening there. We all need to look for the restoration of Iran to the level it used to be.Re: “Others worry about our grid; we should too,” by Dave Lieber, Friday Metro & Business column.
