New York Attorney General TishJames affirmed that the Trump family could attempt to seek a delay of her investigation into their business affairs.
James confirmed the Trump family had the right to seek an appeal of a decision requiring them to appear for sworn testimony in court regarding the financial dealings of the Trump Organization, a move they took last week."Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump were ordered by the court to comply with our lawful investigation into Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization's financial dealings," James said in a press release.
James's investigation has looked at whether Trump or other executives involved have artificially inflated or deflated the value of assets for loan and tax purposes. A different New York investigation into Trump's finances appeared to hit a speed bump when two top prosecutors stepped down from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's query into Trump's business affairs on Wednesday. James's office has provided two replacements in the interim. Bragg's investigation is separate from James's.
