Robbie Henshaw praises the impact of Jordie Barrett on Leinster's attack, while acknowledging the threat posed by Bath in their crucial European clash.
Leinster's Robbie Henshaw has praised the impact of new signing Jordie Barrett, describing him as a 'talented player' who has 'settled in so well'. Barrett, a world-class All Blacks centre, has quickly proven his worth to the province, adding significantly to their attacking options as they target a return to European success.
Henshaw, who has been playing alongside Barrett since his arrival, acknowledges the heightened competition but emphasizes the valuable learning experience gained from such a talented player. 'It’s always great to have another specialist centre at 12 coming into the province and gaining knowledge and experience from him and to bounce things off him and learn,' Henshaw states. 'He’s a talented player and we’re enjoying what he’s brought to the club.' Henshaw has also shared insights into Barrett's playing style, particularly his impressive basic skills and array of kicking options. 'His basic skills are impressive, just his catch-pass and his array of kicking skills are off the charts,' Henshaw explains. Barrett's arrival comes as Leinster prepare for their crucial pool finale against Bath at the Aviva Stadium. Henshaw recognizes the threat posed by Bath, particularly their attacking prowess led by Finn Russell. 'Bath will offer an array of different attacking threats through Finn Russell, who will be leading it. What they do, they do incredibly well,' Henshaw acknowledges. Bath's power game and skillful backs, combined with former Leinster player Ross Molony's insider knowledge, present a significant challenge for the Irish province. However, Henshaw remains confident in Leinster's ability to adapt and overcome this challenge. 'We are well-aware of their attacking threats. They have been going really well this season,' Henshaw states. 'We just have to expect anything from Bath.' Henshaw believes the key for Leinster is to be prepared for anything Bath throws at them and not to overthink their game plan due to Molony's presence. 'Not really. I’m sure it’s more of a forwards thing – lineouts etc. But for us in the backs, not really. I think teams know your calls in attack but they still have to defend it,' he concludes
