La danesa Lego anunció el lunes que sigue comprometida con su búsqueda de materiales sustentables para reducir las emisiones de carbono, incluso después que un experimento del mayor fabricante de juguetes del mundo para usar botellas recicladas no funcionó.
Lego señaló que “decidió no avanzar” en la fabricación de sus característicos ladrillos coloridos a partir de botellas de plástico recicladas hechas de tereftalato de polietileno , y después de más de dos años de pruebas “descubrió que el material no reducía las emisiones de carbono”.
Invertimos “más de 1.200 millones de dólares en iniciativas de sostenibilidad” como parte de los esfuerzos para hacer la transición a materiales más ecológicos y reducir 37% nuestras emisiones de carbono para 2032, detalló Lego. También conocido como metanol verde, el e-metanol está compuesto de dióxido de carbono e hidrógeno residuales, creados mediante el uso de energía renovable para dividir las moléculas de agua.
