Senate President Loren Legarda wants the burned iconic Manila Central Post Office, a national heritage, rebuilt, not knocked down.
Legarda emphasized that "we should not take down the building but consider adopting the concept of adaptive reuse, that instead of destroying our heritage structures, we can restore them and use them for a new purpose." The chairperson of the Senate culture and arts committee stressed that preserving Philippine heritage hinges on our ability to be ever-mindful of conservation strategies.
"As one of the heritage partners of PhilPost, the purchase, and transfer of the ownership of the building to the National Museum or other cultural government agencies must be highly considered," she pointed out.
