KUALA LUMPUR: Former MCA president Tan Sri Lee San Choon contributed much to the development of the party, says Dr Wee Ka Siong .
"He built our home," said the MCA president on Saturday about Wisma MCA, one of the major projects of Lee's presidency. Dr Wee added that Lee also launched fundraisers for Tunku Abdul Rahman College and set up both Multi-Purpose Holdings Berhad and the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society.Prior to leading a moment of silence in commemoration of Lee's passing, Dr Wee said that Lee was an outspoken leader who led MCA Youth in the 1960s.
He added that Lee became the party president in the 1970s and led MCA to victory in the Seremban Parliamentary elections in 1982."Lee devoted himself to MCA. His contributions and sacrifices to MCA and the party are appreciated. I am here to extend our condolences to Lee's family," he said at the 74th MCA party anniversary here on Saturday.Lee, who was born in Pekan, Pahang, rose up in the party's youth wing to become its youngest MP.
