The Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRES) has installed LED light panels to reduce the threat to wildlife.
The Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRES) through the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has installed LED light panels as part of an effort to mitigate the growing threat to wildlife. NRES stated in a press release that the measure not only warns about the presence of wildlife but also serves as a reminder to road users to be more aware and responsible while driving.
\So far, Perhilitan has installed one LED sign unit on K13 Road, Pedu-Gubir Dam, Sik, Kedah and another unit on East-West Highway (JRTB), Gerik near the Air Banun Orang Asli village, Perak. \Earlier, NRES, together with the Malaysian Peninsular Forest Department (JPSM) and the Department of Environment (JAS), conducted a monitoring visit to the forest plantation development area in Rimba Teloi Forest Reserve, Kedah on January 6. The visit was also attended by representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), namely the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS). \At the same time, NRES informed that 13 forest plantation development areas have been approved in the Rimba Teloi Forest Reserve, covering an area of 4,085 hectares since 2014 to 2020. However, it said that the Kedah Forestry Department has temporarily halted work on forest plantation development in compartments 66 and 67 until the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is approved. Previously, the 33,148.95-hectare Rimba Teloi Forest Reserve was declared by the Kedah State Authority on May 10, 1953. Some locations in Rimba Teloi Forest Reserve have been designated as forest plantation development areas in Kedah, and this area was approved for forest plantation development by the state government in 2015
