LeBron James' greatness evident to John Lucas, Stephen Silas before he played an NBA minute

After 20 NBA seasons and 38,352 points — putting him 36 shy of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s career scoring record going into Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder — James has produced a career like no other. Lucas recalled his first look and said he knew then what was coming. After James became the first player taken in the 2003 NBA draft, roughly 14 months after that workout Lucas ran at Gund Arena, Paul Silas became his first NBA coach, with current Rockets coach Stephen Silas a Cavaliers assistant.
