Bekas abu mayat 150 rakyat Mexico yang meninggal dunia akibat komplikasi Covid-19 di AS disusun dalam sebuah upacara pemulangan abu mayat kepada keluarga mereka di Puebla, Mexico minggu lalu. Lebih 1,500 migran dari Mexico meninggal dunia akibat virus itu di AS, menurut Konsul Besar New York, Jorge Islas.

Sejak akhir Jun lalu, AS menyaksikan lonjakan kes baru dan 6 minggu kemudian, jumlah kematian turut meningkat kini, menurut analisis mingguan Reuters mengenai data negara dan daerah. Hanya dalam seminggu, AS mencatatkan 5,600 kematian, keseluruhan angka korban yang direkodkan di Sweden sejak Covid-19 bermula awal tahun ini.

Daerah Maricopa di Phoenix, bandar terbesar di negeri Arizona, dibekalkan 14 peti sejuk beku yang mampu memuatkan sehingga 280 mayat, lebih 2 kali ganda kapasiti bilik mayat kerana jumlah kematian dijangka meningkat, kata pegawai pada Khamis.
