The Lebanese army is getting ready to deploy to southern Lebanon after a cease-fire was agreed upon between Israel and Hezbollah, in accordance with UN Resolution 1701. UN peacekeepers were spotted in Marjayoun, while civilians are urged to wait before returning to areas previously occupied by Israeli forces.
The Lebanese army announced its preparations for deployment to southern Lebanon following a cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah , as reported by Anadolu Agency. The deployment is coordinated with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon ( UNIFIL ) and aligns with UN Resolution 1701, which aims to halt hostilities and establish a weapons-free zone in southern Lebanon. UN peacekeepers' vehicles were seen in Marjayoun, near the border with Israel , amidst ongoing hostilities.
The Lebanese army advised civilians not to return to areas previously occupied by Israeli forces until their complete withdrawal as per the cease-fire agreement. Since October 2023, over 3,760 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon, and over 1 million have been displaced
