Leaked Honda Civic Type R brochure claims 326 hp.
testing, the base curb weight of the outgoing model was measured at 3071 lbs, which represents a difference of 81 lbs in the generational shift. That figure is liable to change slightly before the cars hit the U.S. however, as different regions measure curb weight differently, and other market-t0-market variations either raise or lower the basic figure.
The wheelbase has also been stretched by 1.4-inches, for a total length of 107.7-inches. Honda has reportedly tweaked the final drive ratio, swapping from 4.111 to a 3.842 gearset. Sixth is the only individual gear that sees a ratio tweak, now 0.734 as opposed to the outgoing model's 0.735. The final drive tweak should help the Type R pick up some top-end speed, though we’ll have to wait for the automaker to confirm that tidbit.
While we always expected the 2023 Honda Civic Type R to deliver in the performance department, this new info has to only get fans more excited. The previous car was one of the most competent front-drivers ever put to the track, and we can’t imagine this new one will be any less impressive.
