Summer's heat might linger into the start of fall in the central and southern U.S.How much influence El Niño will have is uncertain.to get weekday updates from The Weather Channel and our meteorologists.
"Looking ahead to fall, we expect October to have some colder risks in the northern U.S. However, given the incredibly warm background state of the world, we are hesitant to go too far yet," said Dr. Todd Crawford in regard to El Niño's influence on weather patterns over the coming months.Summer's final month will resemble how the season started.
"We think the pattern in August will resemble June more than July, with the coolest temperatures, relative to normal, in more heavily populated areas in the Northeast and California, thus reducing overall energy demand," said Crawford.Refreshing cold fronts that bring a taste of fall may be less frequent for some as we make the transition this year. That's because most areas from the Plains into the Midwest and South are forecast to see above average temperatures.
The best chance of cooler than average conditions will be in the northern tier and along the West Coast.Chris Dolce
