KOTA KINABALU: The city centre was hit with major congestion after a trailer carrying a large piece of equipment got stuck under a pedestrian bridge across Jalan Tun Razak here.

The large component, which appears to be part of a building ventilation system, fell off the trailer and hit a vehicle around 4.10pm on Sunday , blocking off most of the three-lane road.Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Supt Kalsom Idris said that a traffic police team was rushed to the area as vehicles were completely gridlocked unable and traffic continued to build up.

He said the initial investigation found that the accident occurred when the trailer was heading from Centre Point towards Likas via Jalan Tun Razak.
