Lanier’s Roslyn Guerra signs with UT-Rio Grande Valley

Guerra is believed to be the first volleyball player from Lanier to sign with a college in more than a decade.SAN ANTONIO — Lanier senior Roslyn Guerra’s work ethic has carried her far on the volleyball court.
Guerra, a first-team all-district selection, turned down a scholarship offer from UT-Permian Basin, an NCAA Division II program, and accepted UTRGV’s preferred walk-on offer instead.“My whole volleyball career has been about proving myself,” Guerra said. “I’ve made it this far,” Guerra said. “It’s crazy to me that this is even an opportunity I’m able to have. I’m going to do whatever it takes to help the team benefit. I really want to prove to Lowery that I want to be there, and he made a good decision to have me there.”“She has put in the hard work outside of here, and it’s never just in volleyball season,” Finnell said. “She was able to go to a more competitive level in club, going nationals.
