Residents who live near the Kunzler building in downtown Lancaster are being asked to stay indoors due to an ammonia leak at the meatpacking company, according to first responders. Calls first came in around 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the leak, according to Lancaster County’s dispatch center. A shelter in place advisory was issued, and residents are asked to stay inside if they are able to smell ammonia, according to emergency dispatch.according to a Facebook postHazMat 2 also shared an image of a sampling device, which the agency said are being placed in the area.
Crews were still on the scene as of 11 a.m., and it is not yet certain if the source of the leak has been contained, according to Lancaster dispatch.
