Additional sewer capacity to relieve basement flooding is currently being planned for Lewis Drive.
“We did some investigation work and found that this project was needed so we’re moving forward with it,” Lakewood Public Works Director Chris Gordon said. “It’s been on the radar for a little bit.
The public work director said during next year’s construction -- which includes pavement and lighting upgrades -- one lane will remain open for local southbound traffic only. Overall, Lakewood is facing more than $300 million in estimated costs to complete the entire project., which began earlier this year.
