Anthony Davis evaporated from the fourth-quarter offense, an old issue rearing its ugly head. That inability to seize a commanding lead came back to bite them at the end of the third quarter: C.J. McCollum pounced as Westbrook glanced away for a moment, driving in for a layup to cut the lead to six. Wenyan Gabriel then tossed a careless inbounds pass that McCollum deflected into the hands of Jose Alvarado, who nailed a 3-pointer to end the first quarter.
