Residents of Ilamoshe Estate in the Oke-Afa area of Lagos State have written to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, over what they described as an unjust power sharing scenario that has kept them in darkness for over six years.
This, they said, had been happening, despite the fact that they contributed over N6 million and a transformer to Ikeja Disco to aid constant power supply to the community.
Part of the petition reads: “In 2016, we contributed N10,000 per compound, when a former member of the Lagos House of Assembly, Jude Idimogu, donated a transformer to us to solve the constant power outage due to overloading in the area. “Rather, all the materials we bought and one of the old transformers are lying idle at Ezenwa Close, while we have been sharing power on two-days-on, one-day-off basis for the past six years.”
“We want to enjoy power supply like every other Nigerian citizen. Our businesses are suffering and our community has become so polluted by generator fumes and noise that we fear that if nothing is done urgently, our people will start suffering from exposure to such dangerous pollutants.”
