Riding motorcycles equipped with strong tyres that grip mud and river stones is not new to teachers of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Terian, Penampang.
An aerial view of SK Malaing and houses of the villagers in the interior of Sabah.Riding motorcycles equipped with strong tyres that grip mud and river stones is not new to teachers of Sekolah Kebangsaan Terian, Penampang.
Principal Mohd Fazil Hoyak, 44, said it is routine for the teachers to ride motorcycles in a small group. Going through two rivers and travelling through muddy road especially during rainy days are extremely challenging. That’s why the teachers and in fact villagers will only go out to town after the rain or during dry season.”
“The water supply to the school is gravity, shared with the villagers while electricity is sourced from solar power. Water supply had been applied for but there’s a caveat due to the road problem.”“If the road is good I believe all other development will follow suit and be brought into the village automatically.”
Kampung Malaing, which is located in the Sook area of Keningau district, is still lacking in terms of infrastructure, especially roads, telecommunications, clean water supply and other basic facilities despite independence.
