PETALING JAYA: The public should stop speculating on the cause of the lung damage sustained by a 17-year-old boy admitted to the Labuan Hospital pending results from the lab tests, says Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari.
He said the cause of the lung damage could be due to a lung infection, an autoimmune disease, exposure to chemicals or vaping.
He said investigation showed that the teenager had started vaping in an attempt to stop smoking about two weeks before he was admitted to the hospital. "While in the ICU, the patient was found to have suffered serious internal injuries in his lungs and other conditions, such as rhabdomyolysis and kidney failure," said Dr Ismuni in a statement on Friday ."He is recovering but still in ICU," he said.
