Labor’s announcement to double taxes on super balances over $3 million in 2025 is a “modest but important change” and the “right thing”, says Treasurer Jim Chalmers.

He said the government was not “contemplating” the superannuation system reform before the election or last October budget.

“It’s getting more difficult … the cost of servicing that $3 trillion of debt is going up when rates go up, the NDIS, healthcare, aged care, defence – all these pressures on the budget are intensifying,” Mr Chalmers told Sky News Australia.Read More
