The Albanese government has unveiled a major change to Medicare in a 'breakthrough' for how Australians access government services online.
Australians will be able to ditch their physical Medicare card as part of a"breakthrough" in how government services are delivered online.
After it is added to the wallet, the card can also be saved to the app home screen to make it easier to access. Australians will continue to have the option of using their physical Medicare card when accessing health services if they prefer. "Hopefully from the end of next quarter of the year, your digital NSW drivers licence can be on your Commonwealth mygov app wallet," Mr Shorten said. Mr Shorten flagged further changes could be on the way for the mGov app as the government looks to improve the way Australians access government services. "We'd like to see trade certificates online, we'd also like to be able to execute more documents online. So we've got an ambitious set of work.

Albanese needs to find a Voice model ‘all Australians can agree on’Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s celebrations over the Voice last week were “premature” as his model is currently more likely to face defeat than a landslide win at a referendum, says Sky News host Sharri Markson. 'If the Voice and Indigenous recognition in the Constitution are so deeply important to the Prime Minister, then surely he needs to do everything in his power to find a model that all Australians can agree on,' she said. 'If Albanese doesn't want a hurtful and humiliating defeat at the referendum, he needs to sit down with the Coalition, sit down with the fiercest Voice critics and find a model that's acceptable to all Australians and that both sides of politics can support. 'Because a crushing defeat at a referendum would alienate and isolate Indigenous Australians, achieving the opposite outcome of what Albanese wants.'
