The Suns were interested in trading for Irving at the trade deadline before he was traded to the Mavericks. The Mavericks have long been considered the favorites to sign Irving. Irving could sign with the Mavericks for up to $272 million over five years.If the Suns were to acquire Irving via a sign-and-trade, they would be hard-capped at $172 million.
