KUCHING: Sarawak police have arrested five people, including a woman, over with a part-time job scam believed to have cheated victims out of nearly RM2mil.
State deputy commissioner of police Dep Comm Datuk Mancha Ata said the suspects, all in their 20s, were arrested in a raid on two condominium units here at 8pm on Monday .
He said initial investigations found that the syndicate offered non-existent part-time jobs with lucrative commissions. "This case involves estimated losses of RM1.8mil based on police reports from victims," he told a press conference here on Wednesday .He said during the raid, police seized 45 ATM cards linked to mule accounts.The suspects were remanded until Aug 12 for investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and Section 120B for criminal conspiracy.
