Kuala Lumpur police conducted a large-scale traffic operation on Saturday night to combat Mat Rempit activity. Authorities focused on motorcyclists congregating at various locations throughout the city, inspecting around 1,500 vehicles along Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Kuching, and Jalan Tun Razak. The operation, involving 75 police officers, resulted in over 1,000 summonses being issued for various offenses.
Of these, 789 were issued by the police, and 250 were issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).\During the operation, 72 motorcycles were seized due to illegal modifications. Five individuals, aged between 15 and 25, were also detained for a range of offenses, including using fake number plates (three cases), vehicle theft (one case), and misuse of psychotropic substances (one case).\According to Kuala Lumpur police’s traffic enforcement and investigation department (JSPT) chief assistant commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the operation's primary objective was to reduce traffic incidents and discourage motorcyclists from gathering to show off and engage in illegal races
