KTM announced an upcoming announcement on January 15th regarding the Klang Valley Electrified Double Track Phase 2 ( KVDT2 ). This phase focuses on upgrading the infrastructure and double-tracking system from KL Sentral to Port Klang . KTM assures that the current inconveniences are for future convenience, implying potential platform closures, schedule disruptions, and service alterations, similar to what occurred during the KVDT1 project between Rawang and KL Sentral.
KVDT2 commenced with the Simpang Port Klang to Port Klang stretch, impacting the Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang – Batu Caves line and the Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang – Tanjung Malim line. Previously, KVDT1 significantly improved train travel for those north of the line, making it a viable commuting option to and from KL. Now, the focus shifts south, promising similar benefits for residents in that area
