The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) in Terengganu has received a significant number of complaints from the public in the first few weeks of 2023, primarily concerning pricing issues for goods and services. The ministry is actively investigating these complaints and taking appropriate actions against traders engaging in malpractice. Additionally, KPDN has been actively implementing the Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM) to provide assistance to consumers through subsidized sales and other initiatives.
The Terengganu branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry ( KPDN ) received 40 complaints from the public between January 1 and 23. The majority of these complaints centered around pricing issues for goods and services. Mohd Sakhri Mohd Salleh, the deputy director of KPDN , stated that 18 cases specifically involved pricing discrepancies, which were reported through various channels, including online platforms.
Other complaints encompassed online transactions (seven cases), controlled goods (five cases), misleading services (four cases), and isolated incidents related to motor vehicle workshops, false trade descriptions, vehicle rentals, counterfeit goods, credit sales, and direct sales. Mohd Sakhri emphasized that all submitted complaints were thoroughly investigated, leading to appropriate actions taken against traders in accordance with relevant laws. He urged the public to continue reporting any suspected malpractice among traders to effectively curb such practices. Mohd Sakhri also highlighted KPDN's commitment to assisting consumers through the Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM). Since January 1, KPDN has organized 65 series of PJRM events, including 31 in-store events, 33 mobile events, and one PJRM@Market event, spanning eight parliamentary constituencies in Terengganu.
