Korean Catholic dioceses have launched a project to provide medical support to undocumented migrant children. are joining forces to provide medical support to undocumented migrant children who lack access to adequate healthcare services in various parts of the country.
The Medical Expense Support Project for the Healthy Growth and Development of Undocumented Migrant Children was signed during a meeting of the Migrant Pastoral Committee of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea on Feb. 20. Under the project a child will receive up to 5 million won for the treatment of critical medical conditions and up to 3 million won to be allocated for pregnancy and childbirth expenses in a hospital.
Migrant families can apply for support through each diocese’s migrant committee and receive the benefits once the application is accepted and approved.said that the project seeks to address vital medical needs of the children of migrants.
