The FBI said it is investigating the shooting last week that injured three as a potential hate crime.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie García, Deputy Chief Rick Watson and Council member Omar Narvaez attended the town hall meeting and fielded questions from community members. García said representatives from the FBI also attended the meeting.

Choi said she hopes to see Dallas police do more to explain the law enforcement resources that are available to the Korean American community. She said that law enforcement can do a better job to explain the importance of reporting crimes. Representatives from the the Korean American Coalition of Dallas-Fort Worth, the Korean Society of Dallas and the Consular Office of the Republic of Korea attended the event, which was held at the Korean Culture Center of Dallas, on North Stemmons Freeway.

The first incident, on April 2, was at the same retail center as the hair salon involved in the shooting on Wednesday. The second occurred at a retail center in east Oak Cliff on Tuesday, one before the shooting at the hair salon.The number of hate incidents against the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the U.S.
