Presiden UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ketika ucapan penggulungannya sempena Perhimpunan Agung UMNO 2019 berkata, konvensyen itu akan dirasmikan pelaksanaannya sebelum Mei tahun hadapan.

“Saya ingatkan diri sendiri, esok adalah hari perhimpunan aman membantah Konvensyen Antarabangsa Mengenai Penghapusan Segala Bentuk Diskriminasi Kaum yang kumpulkan lebih 100,000 peserta pada tahun lalu. Menurutnya, dia menasihatkan perwakilan supaya tidak diperdaya dengan khabar angin yang disebarkan di media sosial berkaitan pembentukan kerajaan pintu belakang, termasuklah dakwaan mengatakan ahli parlimen UMNO akan melompat parti.
