A critical investigation is underway into the police shooting of an alleged armed man in Sydney over the weekend - four days after the death of a woman tasered by officers.
New South Wales Police were called to Chisholm Street in busy Darlinghurst following a concern for welfare report on Sunday about 4:40pm.

Picture: Damian Shaw "A critical incident team from Leichhardt Police Area Command will investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident, including the discharge of a police firearm. The investigation will be subject to an independent review," police said in a statement.It comes about four days after police were, who later died in hospital after being tasered.
Police negotiators, including the tactical squad, were called in hours later, closing off streets and commencing an operation as they tried to speak with the woman. She was taken by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital under police escort but her condition quickly deteriorated. She was later confirmed dead.
Asst Comm McKenna confirmed the woman was able to"walk" to a waiting ambulance, but her condition rapidly worsened.
