SEOUL: A man who opened an airplane door while the aircraft was still in flight was ordered to pay 727 million won (US$547,000) in damages to the airline operator on Thursday (Sept 5).

KUALA LUMPUR: The family of Vijayalaksmi , an Indian national who went missing in the Jalan Masjid India sinkhole incident, have expressed their gratitude to the Malaysian government and the search and rescue team for their tireless efforts to locate her, Malay language daily Astro Awani reports.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif also told Astro Awani that the victim's husband, Mathavan, 49, and their son, M. Suria, 25, had conveyed their gratitude to the staff of Kuala Lumpur City Hall when they were escorted back to KL International Airport for their flight back to India on Sept 1.

"They were at the scene throughout the SAR and closely monitored all the movements of the personnel. They were also given briefings on every movement and action taken by the government," she said on Friday .
