KUALA LUMPUR: The police have not received any notice of rallies that are supposedly going to be held by two groups on Saturday (Sept 16).
The two rallies are the Save Malaysia rally organised by Perikatan Nasional Youth while the other is organised by the Red Shirts led by Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said so far, no notices informing police of the rallies have been received."Action can be taken under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012," he said when contacted on Thursday . Comm Allaudeen said KL police have made the necessary preparations including deploying sufficient personnel, including from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department."We urge the public not to be involved in the rallies.
"The organisers should have been responsible and submitted the notices in accordance with the law," he said. Perikatan Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had previously said that a Save Malaysia rally will be held in front of Sogo shopping mall following the discharge not amounting to an acquittal in Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's Yayasan Akalbudi case.Jamal also announced that the Red Shirts would gather if the Save Malaysia Rally proceeds.
